Future Needs
At present the "Home" has no facilities for sick children. Virus diseases spread rapidly through the dormitory type accommodation. It is hoped to provide a "Medical Education and Training Centre" to provide a base for teaching "Health Education" both to the children and, possibly to the wider community. Because of the intermix of social and ethnic populations and pressure on the academic syllabus schools have little opportunity to provide basic sexual education. It is hoped to provide this in the "Centre" by qualified health and medically trained personnel.

Medical Centre
New medical facilities are proposed:

• A small isolation unit for sick children. This is urgently needed for the Lower Camp site as the intensive accommodation causes infectious diseases such as measles, whooping cough and chicken pox to spread rapidly among the small children. The cost of this is likely to be around £8000.
  
• Also it is hoped that a small teaching and social unit can be built onto the house at Cumbum. This would enable the older girls to be taught "life skills" such as health skills, tailoring and dressmaking. The cost of this would be around £38,000 including £8000 for fittings.

The possibility exists of extending this service to people in the neighbouring communities
Local medical services are anxious to co-operate with this project and staff with appropriate skills will be available
