Control and Discipline
The children are extremely well behaved and obviously largely
self-disciplined. They are of a pleasant countenance and are very friendly and
self-confident.
A member of staff is responsible for individual dormitories or, where these
are accommodating smaller numbers, groups of two or three dormitories.
While some friction and "Horse Play" inevitably occurs, this seldom
needs the intervention of staff. When incidents of a more serious nature do
occur "reasoning" with the child, especially discussions regarding
their role and responsibilities within the family, is the main basis for correction.
Corporal punishment is never resorted to.
Dress
The children are well cared for and well dressed. Clothes
are obtained or made by the staff at minimal cost to the "Home".
The children each have their own clothes although a certain amount of exchange
takes place within the community as would be appropriate in a "Family"
situation.
